Job Opportunity: Senior Service Engineer

We have an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Service Engineer to join Alvest Equipment Services (UK) Ltd, based in Kempston, Bedford. You will be part of a respected technical service team, responsible for world-class power-related electronic equipment. The role requires high professional standards and a focused approach to electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and commissioning works.

Alvest Equipment Services (UK), supporting TLD, is a globally recognized designer and manufacturer of power solutions for the Commercial, Aviation, Marine, and Military markets. The focus will be on Static Inverters and Aviation Ground Power units, including Fixed Power and Battery GPU.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of fixed power systems at 415V head of stand, 200V X400Hz, along with TRU knowledge of 28 volts.

This fast-paced role requires both strength of character and the ability to work independently and as part of a dedicated team. Reporting to the Service Manager, tasks will include site, factory, and office-based activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Represent AES during customer site visits.
  2. Adhere to customer and AES health and safety regulations.
  3. Prepare for customer site visits, ensuring all RAMS are completed and customer requirements are met.
  4. Recognize and diagnose faults using technical expertise and diagnostic equipment.
  5. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders as per service level agreements.
  6. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  7. Sign off on all units repaired at the workshop or customer sites.
Profile Requirements:
  • At least NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation/Maintenance or BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, ideally obtained via formal apprenticeship.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role or 3 years related experience, with broad knowledge of Aviation Ground Power Units and Ground Support Equipment.
