Job Opportunity: Senior Service Engineer

Alvest Equipment Services (AES) offers a comprehensive range of services for ground handling equipment in the airport environment, including equipment rental, fleet management, maintenance, refurbishment, and sales. AES is a part of Alvest, a global leader in Ground Support Equipment, alongside TLD, SAS, Sage Parts, and AES.

Position Overview

We have an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Service Engineer to join Alvest Equipment Services (UK) Ltd, based in Kempston, Bedford. You will be part of a respected technical service team, responsible for world-class power-related electronic equipment. The role requires high professional standards and a focused approach to electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and commissioning works.

About the Company

Alvest Equipment Services (UK) supports TLD, a recognized designer and manufacturer of power solutions for the Commercial, Aviation, Marine, and Military markets. This role will focus on Static Inverters and Aviation Ground Power Units, including Fixed Power and Battery GPU systems.

Candidate Profile
  • Extensive knowledge of fixed power systems at 415V, 200V X 400Hz, and TRU 28V systems.
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance, fault diagnosis, and commissioning.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and use testing equipment proficiently.
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role or related field, with broad knowledge of Aviation Ground Power Units and Ground Support Equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Represent AES during customer site visits.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations of both customers and AES.
  • Prepare for site visits by completing RAMS and understanding customer requirements.
  • Diagnose faults using technical expertise and diagnostic tools.
  • Maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders per service level agreements.
  • Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning work areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Sign off on repaired units at the workshop or customer site.

Candidate Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation/Maintenance or BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, ideally obtained through an apprenticeship.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role or related field.
