Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Location: 15 New Star Road, Leicester, LE4 9JD
Salary: Dependant on experience GBP15.93 – GBP16.48 per hour (FTE GBP29k to GBP30k, pro–rata)
Hours: Part–time (Monday to Thursday), 22.5 hours per week to be worked Monday to Thursday. Daily start times and leave times to be discussed at interview.
Position Type: Permanent.
Important Information: This is not a hybrid position or a position that can work from home, the candidate must be able to work from the office on all four days.

About the Role:
As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining the purchase and sales ledger whilst ensuring correct procedures are followed to strict timescales. You will be supporting the Finance Director and Accounts Supervisor in the timely preparation of financial information, accounts and reports and ensuring that the business activities can be correctly determined and analysed. Whilst this role particularly focusses on the purchase ledger side, you will be required to learn all aspects of the accounts function to be able to provide holiday cover.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchase Ledger
• Registering, matching and coding invoices
• Liaising with Purchase department with query invoices
• Dealing with queries from suppliers and advising them about payments
• Payments
• Setting up new suppliers and completing the appropriate checks
• Reconciling Supplier statements and filing
• Cashbook postings & bank reconciliations
• Balancing of Purchase Ledger control account
Sales Ledger (providing cover for)
• Maintain the credit control function in all various aspects (phone, email, letter)
• Liaise with solicitors regarding bad debt recovery
• Sending of all sales invoices and monthly statements
• Listing and posting of all incoming BACS/cheque payments
• Preparing and balancing of cashbook
• Ensure all new accounts are properly vetted credit agency ratings fixed credit limit and terms
• Balancing of Sales Ledger control account
Other Items
• Monthly payroll information gathering to send to payroll bureau for processing responsible to the HR Advisor for this aspect of the role
• Adhere to payroll policies and procedures and relevant law responsible to the HR Advisor for this aspect of the role
• Maintain the confidentiality of employees pay records responsible to the HR Advisor for this aspect of the role
• Liaise with external payroll company and HR function to ensure payroll is processed each month.
• Analyse all company credit card and cash expenses ensuring that Company policy, current VAT legislation is adhered to.
• Control of petty cash including foreign currency.
• Reconcile accruals list.
• Assisting in preparation and posting of month–end journals.
• Assistance in annual stock take.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have at least some experience of working in accounts administration. Be willing to learn all aspects of purchase ledger and sales ledger. This role also involves the gathering and input of payroll information to send to a payroll bureau for processing. The candidate should be highly organised and motivated, with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks efficiently. We are looking for someone who is both comfortable working independently and as part of a team and who is eager to contribute to the growth and success of the company.
