Job summary

Axcis Education in Wigan is seeking a proactive Secondary Teaching Assistant to support students with SEND across the school. You will work across year groups, help pupils access lessons and manage behaviour.

The role requires at least 6 months SEND experience, a valid DBS, and a willingness to travel to WN6. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, with safeguarding and relationship-building at the core.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months' SEND experience in UK settings.
• Aged 18 or over.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willing to apply for one.
• Available Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm.
• Confident managing behaviour and challenging situations.
• Willing to travel to WN6 for school locations.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEND across different subjects and year groups.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support as required.
• Manage behaviour confidently and consistently.
• Support pupils with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and SEMH needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and independence.
• Help pupils access lessons and stay focused on learning.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and school staff.
• Collaborate with teachers and the wider support team.
