Job summary

Axcis Education is seeking a proactive Secondary Teaching Assistant to support SEND learners at a Chorley school (PR7). You will assist across classrooms and year groups, helping pupils access lessons and engage with learning.

The role requires at least 6 months of UK SEND experience, an Enhanced DBS (Update Service) or willingness to apply, and availability Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm. DBS processing is part of the recruitment process.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months of UK SEND experience.
• Be aged 18 or over.
• Willingness to apply for Enhanced DBS or Update Service.
• Available Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm.
• Confident in managing behaviour and working with secondary pupils.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEND across different subjects and year groups.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required.
• Confidently manage behaviour and respond to challenging situations.
• Support pupils with autism, ADHD and other learning needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and independence.
• Help pupils access lessons and remain focused on learning.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Collaborate with teachers and the wider support team.
