Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teacher of Food Preparation & Nutrition for a welcoming secondary school in Bournemouth, Dorset. The role is full-time and permanent, starting in January, within the Technology department.

You will deliver practical cooking sessions, food safety, nutrition, and GCSE/Level 1/2 Hospitality content across KS3–KS4, working with food technicians to uphold high standards.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS, QTLS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)
• Honors degree in Food Technology, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, or Hospitality
• Food Hygiene & Safety Certification (Level 2 or Level 3) with knowledge of nutritional science
• Proven capability to manage full-class practical culinary sessions safely and efficiently
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Responsibilities

• Teach practical cooking and nutritional science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
• Enforce hygiene, food safety (HACCP), and kitchen safety standards
• Guide GCSE and vocational candidates through practical exams and NEA coursework
• Oversee kitchen inventories, ingredient ordering, and equipment storage
• Assess, track, and report student progress across practical cooking and exams
• Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor and support student wellbeing
