Job summary

Aspire People Limited is seeking a Fitness Teaching Assistant to support post-16 students with SEND in a south Birmingham specialist provision. You will assist in gym-based sessions, adapt activities, and help students develop confidence and physical wellbeing.

This full-time maternity-cover role requires patience, solid communication, and a proactive approach to safeguarding and personalised learning plans.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people or adults with SEND (SEMH/ASD).
• Passion for fitness, sport or physical wellbeing.
• Calm, patient and encouraging approach with behavioural needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with students and staff.
• Proactive and flexible attitude to support vulnerable learners.

Responsibilities

• Support students 16+ in gym activities, sports and wellbeing programmes.
• Adapt activities to individual needs for safe engagement.
• Collaborate with teaching staff on personalised learning plans.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social interaction.
• Encourage independence, confidence and teamwork.
