Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a proactive Fitness Teaching Assistant to support post-16 students with SEND in a south Birmingham specialist setting. You will assist in structured fitness sessions, gym-based activities, and wellbeing programmes, helping learners access and enjoy physical activity.

The role requires empathy, calmness, and strong communication with students and staff, with a focus on emotional regulation, independence, and teamwork. Relevant fitness qualifications are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience working with post-16 learners with SEND (ASD/SEMH) is preferred.
• Calm, patient, and supportive approach when assisting learners with behavioural needs.
• Strong communication with students, staff and parents/guardians when needed.

Responsibilities

• Support students aged 16+ in fitness sessions, gym activities and wellbeing programmes.
• Adapt activities to individual needs to ensure safe access and participation.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to deliver personalised learning and development plans.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and teamwork through physical activity.
