Job summary

Avanti House Secondary School in Stanmore is seeking a Cover Supervisor to ensure learning continues when a teacher is absent. You will supervise classes, set tasks, maintain discipline and contribute to wider school life including exams and administration.

The role supports pupils’ progress and requires good ICT use and strong communication. The school values a calm, purposeful environment and offers opportunities for professional development; staff benefit from LGPS and local discounts.

Qualifications

• Educated to at least Level 2 (A*-C GCSE) including English and Maths.
• Good knowledge and skills in ICT/Technology.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work creatively as an individual and as part of a team.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Work with staff to ensure lessons for absent teachers are covered with suitable work.
• Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and health and safety.
• Provide wider support when not covering lessons (supervise pupils, support learners, invigilate exams, library duties, reprographics, admin).
• Contribute to climate for learning and participate in training and professional development.
