Job summary

Flexible People Ltd are recruiting a Drivers Mate for a well-known client in Basingstoke. You will assist with deliveries of bulky goods to homes, require physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy items safely. The role includes a 6:00am start, 4–6 shifts weekly, weekend work, and full training to become a Banksman.

Drug tests may be conducted during induction. Reliable, punctual and well-organised individuals with good customer service skills are encouraged to apply.

Drivers Mate - Basingstoke - £16.33ph + Overtime Available Over 48 hours

Flexible People Ltd are currently recruiting for a Drivers Mate to work alongside our lorry drivers for a well-known client based in Basingstoke.

As a Drivers Mate, you will assist with the delivery of large household goods to residential properties. The items you will be delivering include flat pack furniture, gym equipment, white goods, and other bulky products. Due to the weight of these deliveries, applicants must be physically fit and capable of carrying heavy items safely.

The client operates seven days a week, and Drivers Mate staff will receive a weekly rota consisting of 4-6 shifts. Weekend work is essential and will be expected as part of the role. Please only apply if you are available to work both weekends and weekdays.

Start times are 6:00am, with shifts typically lasting between 9 and 11 hours.

As a Drivers Mate, you will also be responsible for contacting customers ahead of delivery to provide estimated arrival times. Excellent communication, telephone manner, and customer service skills are essential, as you will be representing the client during every delivery.

You will also receive full training to become a Banksman, ensuring you are positioned safely outside the vehicle whenever the lorry is reversing to guide the driver and maintain site safety. Full training will be provided, and this forms an important part of the Drivers Mate role.

Following a successful application, all new Drivers Mate employees must attend a mandatory induction day before starting work.

Applicants must be able to commute reliably to Basingstoke.

Please note that drug and alcohol testing may be carried out at any time at the client's discretion. A drug test will also be completed during the induction process.

Pay Rates:

• £16.33 per hour
• Overtime paid at £19.58 per hour
