Job summary

GI Group Main Account is assisting a well-established engineering and fabrication business in Nottingham to recruit a Draughtsperson. You will produce accurate fabrication drawings for steel structures and create 3D/2D models using Autodesk Advanced Steel to support manufacturing.

You will generate GA drawings, fabrication details, and material schedules, liaise with engineers and workshop teams, and ensure designs are production-ready while interpreting calculations and applying industry

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Draughtsperson in the fabrication industry (hands-on role).
• Strong Autodesk Advanced Steel experience (essential).
• Experience producing drawings for welded structures and fabrications.
• Good understanding of welding symbols, fabrication techniques and engineering drawings.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed fabrication drawings for steel structures.
• Create 3D & 2D models using Autodesk Advanced Steel.
• Generate GA drawings, fabrication details, assembly drawings and material schedules.
• Liaise with design engineers, project managers and workshop teams to deliver the design intent.
• Interpret engineering calculations into production-ready drawings.
• Ensure drawings meet internal standards and industry requirements.
• Revise/update drawings based on customer requirements and engineering change requests.
• Provide technical support during manufacture and support continuous improvement initiatives.
