Job summary
British Steel in Scunthorpe is seeking a Design Draughtsperson/Design Engineer to provide 2D and 3D drafting support across structural and mechanical projects within the AIRED Engineering & Design team.
You will develop fabrication and general arrangement drawings, support engineers from concept to implementation, undertake site surveys, and ensure drawings meet engineering standards and health and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical/Structural/Design Eng
- Significant experience in design/draughting
- Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards
- Knowledge of structural and mechanical applications
Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings for structural and mechanical projects
- Develop fabrication, assembly and general arrangement drawings
- Support Design Engineers from concept through implementation
- Undertake site surveys and gather information
- Update and maintain drawings and documentation
- Liaise with operations, maintenance and project teams
- Assist in BOM and drawing package preparation
- Ensure drawings meet standards and safety requirements
- Support multidisciplinary projects
