Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Domestic Services Assistant to provide cleaning and support across NHSL premises, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment in line with infection control standards.

The post is a Monday to Friday role with days or backshift options, shifts from 6am–3pm or 3pm–10pm depending on service delivery, and it is a fixed-term 12-month placement.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, upholding health and safety practices and contributing to patient and staff well-being.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning standards and related procedures.
• Working knowledge of Health & Safety including risk assessment of tasks.
• Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Undertake a range of cleaning tasks using machinery and cleaning appliances with manual handling.
• Ensure cleaning is done to required standards and report areas not cleaned due to access issues.
• Use cleaning materials and COSHH-compliant substances safely and in line with guidelines.
• Maintain safety and consideration for patients, staff and visitors at all times.

The Role

Provide domestic service to patients, staff and visitors of NHS Lanarkshire, (NHSL) premises through the use of effective and efficient methods, which deliver a ‘safe’ and welcoming environment and meet the required NHSL and Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI )standards.

To work alongside and support new staff in the working environment.

The working pattern for this role is Monday to Friday Dayshift, any shift pattern between 6am to 3pm or Monday to Friday Backshift any shift between 3pm to 10pm, both shift patterns will depend on Service Delivery and wherever you are required to work.

Please note this is a fixed-term post for 12 months.

In This Key Role, You Will

• Undertake a range of cleaning tasks which require the use of machinery, equipment and cleaning appliances involving manual handling and lifting
• To ensure all cleaning is undertaken to the required standards and report to supervisor any areas not cleaned due to access issues etc
• Utilise cleaning materials and agents in keeping with Health & Safety responsibilities and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) guidelines.
• Ensure the safety and consideration of patients, staff and visitors at all times whilst performing tasks.
