Job summary

Breedon Group is seeking a Distribution Coordinator to support the Customer Service and Distribution function from the Durham Gate Office. You will plan and execute distribution to deliver on-time, in-full orders while optimising EBIT, working closely with Commercial, Operations and Transport teams.

The role requires strong communication, organisation, and data-driven decision making, with a focus on process improvement, H&S policy adherence, and exemplary customer service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility of production and transport availability to enable proactive influence of distribution plan development.
• Capture and place customer orders in line with quotations ensuring information is accurately captured within Breedon’s systems and in adherence with defined processes.
• Build and optimise a distribution plan to meet customer needs, coordinating with Commercial, Operations and Transport teams.
• Plan driver rest times and manage adherence to Health & Safety policy.
• Contact customers the day before delivery to confirm orders and schedule.
• Respond to changes in the plan due to customer circumstances or production issues, minimising impact on customers.
• Ensure transport and distribution processes have data integrity for informed decision making, including declined orders and lost volume.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers over the phone to understand sales opportunities and alert Commercial team when appropriate.
• Influence and review KPIs (e.g., Plan adherence) to improve customer experience and distribution efficiency.
• Implement changes to ways of working in line with Customer & Commercial Excellence initiatives.
