Building Works Surveyor (Disrepair) - Waltham Forest Council

Contract: 6 months (initial)
Rate: £41.65 per hour (Umbrella)
The London Borough of Waltham Forest is currently seeking a Building Works Surveyor (Disrepair) to join their team on an initial 6-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic local authority environment, helping to ensure housing standards are met and residents receive the highest level of service.
Key Responsibilities:
·Assess and address disrepair and maintenance issues across the borough's housing portfolio.
·Support the Repairs Partnering team by ensuring contractors, consultants, and partners deliver high-quality work that meets compliance standards, specifications, schedules, and budgets.
·Conduct regular site visits and maintain detailed digital records.
·Provide clear, accurate reports and ensure the asset management database is kept up to date.
·Deliver a resident-focused approach when managing disrepair cases, ensuring empathy and professionalism at all times.
·Collaborate closely with the Building Safety Operations and Compliance teams to ensure homes remain safe and compliant with regulations.
·Offer expert advice and support to colleagues, residents, and stakeholders, including handling escalated complaints and enquiries.
About You:
·Proven experience in building surveying, particularly within the context of disrepair.
·Strong understanding of housing maintenance, compliance standards, and contract management.
·Excellent communication skills with a commitment to resident-focused service.
·Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
