What you’ll be doing

As a qualified Dispensing Optician, you will be providing a high level of customer care and expert advice to make a real difference to our customers and keep them coming back. You will work in one of our stores, reporting to the Store Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Providing clinical support in store for regulated dispensing
• Inspiring your Optical team by sharing your knowledge to offer the very best service.
• Listening to the needs of customers and offering expertise and advice.
• Helping our customers to choose the correct eyewear and offer guidance to ensure our customers receive the best product suited to their needs.
• Supporting the team to deliver an efficient model day and operational processes to ensure that the business trades legally.
• Providing expert knowledge for patients with more specialist requirements.

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)

• Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
• Passion for your own learning and development, completing all CPD training as part of the GOC requirement.

It would be great if you also have

• Ability to embrace new technologies

Need To Know

Boots Opticians are excited to be looking for a Dispensing Optician to join our friendly team at Liverpool Hunts Cross. Our practice has recently had a full refit (September 2025) and offers a bright, modern, and open‑plan environment that makes it a great place to work.

With three well‑equipped testing rooms, including OCT and Optomap, you’ll be supported by an experienced team of 12 colleagues — including 1 Dispensing Optician and 2 Optometrists — who create a fun and welcoming atmosphere every day.

The role is full‑time, 5 days a week, including 1 fixed weekend day or alternate full weekends. Our practice closes at 6:30 pm (no late nights!) and standard test times are a minimum of 30 minutes, giving you plenty of time with each patient. Occasional sickness cover may be required.

We’re a busy standalone store with free parking, just 5–10 minutes from the train station, and we’re proud to serve a mixed demographic of patients.
