Job summary

College Surgery Partnership is seeking a dispenser to join its rotating team across rural branches in the countryside. You will dispense medicines, pack blister packs, maintain controlled drugs records, order stock and advise patients, with travel between sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Dispense medicines accurately against prescriptions and protocols.

Job description

The Dispensing Team at College Surgery Partnership needs a dispenser to work in a rotating team across its rural branches, travelling between sites. Day-to-day work covers accurate dispensing, blister packing, controlled drugs records, stock ordering and advice to patients. Hours fall across Wednesday to Friday, and the team also offers blister packing and a delivery service to its most vulnerable patients. Candidates need at least two years' pharmacy experience and an NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services.

What the job involves

• Dispense medicines accurately against prescriptions, legislation and practice protocols
• Process blister pack prescriptions and monitor and report on blister packing
• Ensure compliance with Controlled Drugs regulations and keep accurate records
• Order, receive and store pharmaceutical stock safely, monitoring expiry dates and rotation
• Check prescriptions for accuracy and flag discrepancies or issues to prescribers
• Provide patients with information and advice on prescribed medicines
• Handle patient queries professionally and promptly
• Record all dispensing activity accurately on the clinical system
• Liaise with suppliers to resolve stock issues promptly
• Work with GPs, nurses and administrative staff to support safe prescribing and dispensing
• Monitor and record fridge and room temperatures
• Supervise less experienced staff and trainees as required
