Summary of role:

We are seeking a Director, Commercial Contracts to lead the strategic vision of our commercial contracting efforts. This includes contract development, negotiation support, redlining, and execution. The individual must be customer-facing and adaptable to shifting priorities.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  1. Set the strategic vision for the commercial contracting development process.
  2. Develop and maintain adaptable commercial contracting templates.
  3. Lead cross-functional collaboration for contract development and maintenance.
  4. Review contract terms, identify issues, assist sales in negotiations, and escalate unresolved issues.
  5. Collaborate with management to derive contracting strategies for product lines, including pricing and rebates.
  6. Review existing agreements regularly to ensure key provisions are managed properly.
  7. Prepare, review, and respond to RFPs and RFIs, ensuring deadlines and accuracy.
  8. Coordinate with Commercial Administration on terms, educate the team, and review system price files.
  9. Work with legal to draft and communicate contractual documents, including price letters and renewals.
  10. Support sales with data gathering and reporting on contract effectiveness and KPIs.
  11. Ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations.
  12. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  13. Conduct legal research on contract interpretation, risks, and compliance.
  14. Liaise with customers and internal teams for smooth negotiations and execution.
  15. Provide training on commercial transaction processes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Understanding of contract terms and structures.
  • Experience with redlining and editing contracts.
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in contract administration, preferably in manufacturing, pharma, or medical devices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.

  • Ability to work independently and solve problems.
  • Motivated, flexible, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in contracts, pricing, or related fields.
  • Negotiation, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
