Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust in Lancaster is seeking a Digital Training Manager to lead the digital training function across the Trust. You will work with EPR and Application Support teams to implement digital education and ensure staff competency and confidence.

You will design and deliver high-quality training packages, manage the training team, and coordinate blended learning programmes across sites.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in Education, Learning & Development, Digital Training, Health Informatics, Business Change or related field.
  • Teaching, training or assessment qualification (e.g. Certificate in Education, CIPD Learning & Development, TAP, equivalent).
  • Experience of managing training, education or workforce development programmes.
  • Experience designing and delivering face-to-face, virtual and blended learning programmes.
  • Experience of learning management systems administration and development.

  • Understand the risks, impacts, technical resource, cost and change management implications of all training solutions.
  • Manage and deliver bespoke training solutions as required by the needs of the Trust
  • Manage the implementation of new information systems working across Health Informatics.
  • Lead on the development of creative learning solutions for the implementation of blended learning programmes which may require a degree of organisational change for success.
  • Develop training plans, identifying resources and liaising with Heads of Departments to arrange for staff to be released for training.
  • Develop benchmarking processes such as training needs analysis and evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of the training solutions and ensure reporting mechanisms are in place.
  • Assign, monitor and undertake allocated work packages to build and update learning management systems, using best practice guidelines, methodologies and standards.
  • Develop and co-ordinate rotas for large implementations this would include developing rotas for the trainers to deliver training across several sites and across several shift patterns ensuring all training sessions are adequately covered.
  • To be willing to take the role of Digital Skills Development (DSD) Lead for UHMB.

Job description

Working alongside the EPR and Application Support team, the Digital Training Manager will be pivotal in the implementation and development of the digital education and support programmes ensuring competency and confidence across the whole staff footprint. The post holder will lead the digital training function and support the local implementation of Trust Strategic objectives; the Digital people enabling plan and will maintain NHS Education & Training Standards. This post will incorporate the on-going planning and co-ordination of digital education and training needs across the Trust. They will work with members of the EPR and clinical and operational management teams to ensure a consistent training approach for teams across the Trust. The postholder will ensure the successful delivery of complex solutions, breaking down barriers for the team, planning at a strategic level and getting into the detail to make things happen when needed. They will do this by providing a consistent approach to delivery, utilisation of the best tools and methodologies for the solution, working with stakeholders to maintain engagement and key deliverables of the digital transformation programmes. They will be willing to take the role of Digital Skills Development (DSD) Lead for UHMB, attending meetings when possible and cascading relevant information to team in i3 and sharing newsletters and events and keeping

The digital training team play a vital role in enabling clinical and administrative teams to use our digital technology effectively and safety. Working closely with the Electronic Patient Record and Application Support team, they design and deliver training in learner friendly modes to support safe use of electronic systems and support innovation and the implementation of new processes and software. With the creation of One LSC and an aspiration to procure a single EPR across the ics it is important that we work collaboratively with peers and teams across the 4 Trusts. It is an exciting time in the digital journey and the training that is required to support use of systems is vital to successful implementation of programmes.

functionality as required, and conducting pre- and post-assessment and evaluation processes.

Develop and co-ordinate rotas for large implementations this would include

rotas for trainers to deliver training across several sites and across several shift patterns ensuringall training sessions are adequately covered.

To be willing to take the role of Digital Skills Development (DSD) Lead for UHMB.

Leadership and Management

Work with the Head of Digital Education to ensure successful delivery of the departmental objectives and the broader objectives of the Health Informatics division.

Lead the Digital Training Team to ensure a consistent service of excellence is delivered.

Ensure the team conforms to the agreed timescales, processes, procedures and guidelines for the delivery of the Health Informatics education and training programmes.

Prioritise and manage work streams/staffing levels to ensure optimum productivity including annual leave and sickness absence and be available to respond to escalation events at any time.

Conduct annual appraisals using the Organisations performance appraisal to support and developeach team member

Deputise for the Head of Digital Education when required attending relevant project and divisional

meetings representing the digital design and delivery education needs of the workforce.

Research and Development

Contribute to the development of key performance indicators. To make adjustments if targets arenot met and communicate and appropriately present to stakeholders, team members and service

users.

The Post holder will communicate with the Head of Digital Learning, Chief Nursing Information Officer , Head of EPR Programmes, ics Peers and clinical and operational teams.

They will be proficient in all forms of communication: Verbal ,Email, MS Teams, presentation skills.

Person Specification
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in Education, Learning & Development, Digital Training, Health Informatics, Business Change or related field.
  • Teaching, training or assessment qualification (e.g. Certificate in Education, CIPD Learning & Development, TAP, equivalent).
  • experience of managing training, education or workforce development programmes.
  • Experience designing and delivering face-to-face, virtual and blended learning programmes.
  • Experiance of developing training plans, training needs analyses and evaluation methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams and support staff through periods of organisational change.
  • Expert knowledge of Lorenzo, Emis and Fraxinus Systems
  • Postgraduate qualification in Education, Digital Transformation, Leadership or Change Management.
  • Experience of implementing an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) or other large-scale digital transformation programme.
  • Experience of learning management systems administration and development.
  • Experience of Learning Management Systems and digital learning platforms
