Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a Digital Training Officer to deliver digital training across Isle of Wight NHS Trust and PHU, using e-learning, classroom and virtual formats. Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or equivalent level of experience.
  • Local training qualification such as PTTLS or City & Guilds 7407 Diploma, or willingness to work towards.
  • ITIL Foundation accreditation is desirable.

The single corporate service is delivered across both organisations. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.

Job Description

This vacancy is open to employees of Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust only.

NHS Band 4 Salary:£28,392 to £31,157 pro rata per annum
(actual salary £18,928 - £20,771 per annum)

Hour Per Week: part time, 25 hours

Job purpose

The Digital Training Officer role is key in the provision of the delivery in digital training courses, adopting a blended approach to meet the needs and learning styles of the workforce across Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.

The Digital Training Team provides a progressive and responsive service, ensuring a consistent approach to training delivery, access to training and sharing of best practice. The adaptable approach of team members is an essential element in supporting the Trust in implementing their Digital Strategy.

The post holder will make a significant contribution to service modernisation and development, whilst working in line with NHSD Education and Training Standards.

Job summary

The role of Digital Training Officer will support the Trust’s vision to deliver digital training courses to end users (customers), as part of an innovative training programme that is considerate to the working patterns of staff groups across Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, and to have an understanding of the varying levels of digital skills competency that exist within the Trust. Training delivery will include e-learning, classroom, virtual learning, and coaching solutions, across multiple Clinical Applications and the Microsoft Suite of products at a basic – intermediate level.

The post holder will assist with the review of existing courses, suggesting change where appropriate, as well as maintaining training records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a positive learning environment to promote staff skills development.
  • Engage in one-to-one discussions with end users where necessary, to assess needs, capability, and achievement.
  • Convey complex and technical matters clearly and simply to end users.
  • Actively contribute to the production of lesson plans, schemes of work, assessments, and end user guides. All course materials should comply with internal quality, working towards NHSD Training & Education standards, with Training documentation reviewed on an annual basis to ensure compliancy.
  • Set up applications for training to reflect ‘real life’ examples, e.g. dummy patient episodes and/or patient context scenarios for use in facilitated learning sessions.
  • Self-motivated and capable of demonstrating initiative to solve problems and make decisions
  • Logical and efficient, with good attention to detail
  • Makes effective use of learning opportunities within and outside the workplace

Qualifications
  • HNC, HND or Vocational Qualification level 4 or experience equivalent for level of experience
  • Hold local training qualification such as “ PTTLS, City & Guilds 7407 Diploma” or willing to work towards in first year
  • ITIL Foundation

Experience

  • IT Literate and practical experience of Windows software, e.g. Word, Excel, etc.
  • Application incident and problem management skills
  • Understanding of NHS data standards and NHS data items.
  • Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
  • Significant experience of multiple information Systems gained in a work environment
  • Evidence of reflection and evaluation of knowledge and skill gaps

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Knowledge of specific healthcare/clinical related applications such as PAS (Patient Administration System), EPR (Electronic Patient Record), and eReferrals
    • Knowledge of business process documentation techniques
    • Knowledge of business change process analysis and design techniques.
