Digital Marketing & Performance Specialist

Full-time Permanent Mid-level Senior

Posted 28 Oct 2026

Description

Turn digital expertise into measurable impact. Create campaigns that connect leading brands with technology that helps them reduce energy waste and make their buildings perform better.

At Best.Energy, we make buildings smarter, more efficient and more sustainable. Our energy monitoring and control technology gives organisations the insight they need to reduce costs and take meaningful action towards net zero.

We're looking for a Digital Marketing & Performance Specialist who combines strong, hands-on PPC expertise with a broader understanding of what makes digital marketing work. Someone who can build and optimise campaigns, improve conversion and turn performance data into better decisions and quality sales opportunities.

You'll enjoy the pace and variety of agency-style delivery within an in-house team, with the freedom to test ideas, take ownership and see the longer-term impact of your work.

The Details

UK-based, with hybrid working and regular access to our Bristol office

Up to £48,000, depending on experience

Role Purpose

The Digital Marketing & Performance Specialist will lead Best.Energy’s digital marketing activity, including PPC, combining strategic planning with hands-on campaign delivery. The role is accountable for generating quality appointments, improving conversion and making effective use of digital marketing spend.

This role brings the pace, variety and performance focus typically found in an agency into an in-house team. You will manage multiple campaigns, departmental targets, audiences and priorities, with the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of one business, work closely with marketing and sales colleagues, and see the longer-term impact of your decisions. PPC is a core specialism, supported by wider digital marketing hands-on expertise across landing page CRO, analytics, HubSpot, AEO/GEO and organic search.

Key Responsibilities
Digital Campaigns and Paid Advertising
  • Own PPC strategy and hands-on delivery, with Google Ads at the centre and other paid search or paid social platforms selected according to audience, objectives and results
  • Plan, build and optimise campaigns, including account structure, keyword research, audience targeting, ad copy, bidding, negative keywords and landing page alignment
  • Manage agreed campaign budgets, forecast performance and recommend how spend should be allocated to improve cost per qualified lead and contribution to the sales pipeline
  • Run structured tests across targeting, creative, bidding and landing pages, monitoring spend and performance regularly and taking action to improve results
Website, UX and Conversion Optimisation
  • Lead website and landing page optimisation, ensuring paid campaigns connect to relevant journeys that turn visitors into quality enquiries
  • Use conversion rate optimisation, A/B testing and user experience principles to improve forms, messaging and calls to action
  • Review digital journeys and recommend improvements based on performance data and user behaviour
  • Collaborate with the wider team to create an engaging and consistent digital experience
AEO/GEO and Organic Visibility
  • Coordinate SEO improvements with the wider team and specialist support where needed, improving relevant organic visibility alongside paid activity
  • Conduct keyword research, SEO audits and competitor analysis
  • Use paid and organic search insight to identify audience needs, content opportunities and gaps in the customer journey
  • Monitor organic performance and explore opportunities to improve visibility in AI search as part of wider digital development
HubSpot and Marketing Automation
  • Use HubSpot as a core platform for marketing activity, automation and reporting
  • Connect campaigns, landing pages, forms and lead nurture in HubSpot, maintaining clear campaign tracking and visibility of lead progression
  • Help the marketing team and wider business make better use of HubSpot functionality
  • Maintain a strong understanding of HubSpot best practice and how it can support marketing and sales objectives
Performance Reporting and Insight
  • Own clear reporting on spend, conversions, cost per lead, lead quality and appointment/pipeline contribution, presenting results and recommendations to the Head of Marketing and wider SMT
  • Maintain reliable measurement using Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager and advertising platform conversion tracking, working with appropriate colleagues on consent and data requirements
  • Work with sales colleagues to understand lead quality and progression, using feedback to improve targeting and campaign decisions
  • Explain performance and attribution limitations clearly, turning data into practical decisions on priorities, testing and investment
Digital Strategy and Collaborative Delivery
  • Translate wider marketing objectives into a prioritised digital campaign plan, balancing paid acquisition, organic search, landing pages and lead nurture
  • Manage several campaigns and projects at once, using clear briefs, deadlines and reporting to maintain the pace and organisation associated with agency delivery
  • Work closely with marketing, sales and creative colleagues, coordinating any external digital specialists and sharing practical guidance with the team
  • Take ownership from initial brief through to launch, optimisation and review, bringing forward ideas and challenging approaches where evidence supports a better result
Skills and Experience
  • Senior-level, hands-on PPC experience, with a track record of independently managing campaigns and budgets and delivering measurable improvements in lead generation and acquisition efficiency globally
  • Strong practical expertise in Google Ads, including campaign structure, bidding, keyword strategy, testing and ongoing optimisation
  • Experience managing multiple campaigns, audiences or accounts, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and explain budget and performance decisions
  • Broader digital marketing experience spanning lead nurture and CRM or marketing automation platforms, ideally HubSpot
  • Proven experience improving landing pages and conversion rates through structured testing and analysis
  • Experience assessing lead quality and connecting marketing activity to sales outcomes within B2B lead generation
  • Confident use of Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager and conversion tracking to measure, troubleshoot and improve campaign performance
  • Working knowledge of SEO and how paid search, organic visibility, AI content and conversion work together
  • Excellent communication, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence to make recommendations, work independently and take responsibility for delivery while collaborating closely with colleagues
  • Strong organisational skills, ideally with experience using a project management system such as Asana
  • Experience working in SaaS, technology, energy or sustainability sectors
  • Agency experience, or comparable experience delivering several campaigns at pace with clear commercial accountability
  • Experience with Microsoft Advertising, LinkedIn Ads or other paid social platforms relevant to B2B audiences
  • Advanced HubSpot experience, including automation and reporting
  • Experience with emerging AI search and digital marketing tools
Behaviours and Attributes
  • Digitally curious and proactive
  • Data-led and focused on measurable results
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Confident taking ownership of budgets, priorities and campaign outcomes
  • Able to balance creativity with performance and optimisation
  • Collaborative and confident working with different stakeholders
  • Comfortable with agency-style pace and variety, while building lasting relationships and improvements within an in-house team
