Perfect Placement UK Ltd is assisting a reputable family-run garage in Oldham, Greater Manchester, to appoint a skilled Diagnostic Vehicle Technician. This role covers servicing, diagnostics and repairs across a variety of vehicles within a supportive workshop.

The position offers a competitive salary of £32,000–£34,000, Monday–Friday hours around 7:30am–5:00pm, and opportunities for ongoing technical training, including electrical systems and EV qualifications.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Vehicle Technician or Diagnostic Technician.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
• Automotive qualifications, ideally Level 3 or higher.
• MOT testing licence desirable but not essential.
• Experience with modern vehicle technology or EVs beneficial.
• Reliable, detail-oriented and a good team player.

Responsibilities

• Conduct servicing, maintenance and repairs across a range of vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Utilise diagnostic equipment to identify faults and determine repairs.
• Perform vehicle inspections, fault-finding procedures and component testing.
• Work with modern electrical/electronic systems; EV knowledge is advantageous.
• Complete repairs to high workmanship and safety standards.
• Support colleagues by sharing knowledge.
• Conduct MOT testing where qualified and required.

Duties of the Diagnostic Vehicle Technician:

• Conduct servicing, maintenance, and repairs across a range of vehicles
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults
• Utilise diagnostic equipment to identify faults and determine appropriate repairs
• Perform vehicle inspections, fault-finding procedures, and component testing
• Work confidently with modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems; knowledge of electric vehicles is advantageous
• Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and health and safety regulations
• Support colleagues by sharing technical knowledge
• Conduct MOT testing where qualified and required

Requirements of the Diagnostic Vehicle Technician:

• Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician, Diagnostic Vehicle Technician, or Senior Technician
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills in mechanical and electrical systems
• Relevant automotive qualifications, ideally to Level 3 or higher
• MOT testing licence is desirable but not essential
• Experience with modern vehicle technology, electrical systems, or EVs is beneficial
• Reliable, professional approach with attention to detail
• Pride in quality workmanship and ability to work well within a team
• Full UK driving licence is preferred but not essential
