Job summary

Auto Skills UK is seeking a Senior Vehicle Technician / Diagnostic Technician in Stockport to join a busy workshop. The role covers servicing, repairs, diagnostics and vehicle health checks, with a 40-hour week (Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm) plus 1 in 3 Saturdays.

Salary: Up to £38,000 basic with uncapped OTE up to £48,200, plus manufacturer training and genuine career progression. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent and a full UK driving licence are required; EV/Hybrid experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician / Vehicle Mechanic.
• Full and valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out vehicle inspections in line with technical guidelines.
• Complete servicing and routine maintenance.
• Carrying out mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Diagnose faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Carry out additional repairs once authorised.
• Complete warranty repairs accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct vehicle health checks.
• Road test to confirm repairs.
• Complete all relevant paperwork to a high standard.

THE ROLE

As a Senior Vehicle Technician / Diagnostic Technician, you'll play an important role within a busy workshop, carrying out servicing, repairs, diagnostics and vehicle health checks to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out vehicle inspections in line with technical guidelines
• Completing servicing and routine maintenance
• Carrying out mechanical and electrical repairs
• Diagnosing faults using modern diagnostic equipment
• Carrying out additional repairs once authorised
• Completing warranty repairs accurately and efficiently
• Conducting vehicle health checks
• Carrying out road tests to confirm repairs have been completed correctly
• Completing all relevant paperwork to a high standard
• Working efficiently to agreed productivity and quality targets
• Maintaining a clean, safe and professional workshop environment
• Supporting colleagues and contributing to a strong team environment

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for an experienced technician with:

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
• Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician / Vehicle Mechanic
• Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge
• Good diagnostic and fault-finding ability
• Experience working to high technical and quality standards
• Full and valid UK driving licence
• Excellent attention to detail
• A proactive and professional approach
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A genuine desire to develop your technical skills

Diagnostic, MOT and EV/Hybrid experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
