Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician for a busy main dealership in Liverpool. You will carry out advanced diagnostics, fault-finding and EV health checks, using manufacturer equipment and reporting findings to standard. A Level 3 qualification and dealership experience are essential.

The role offers a base salary up to £39,000 with uncapped bonuses and an OTE of £48,000+, plus MOT uplift and overtime on Saturdays. Excellent progression and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (NVQ or equivalent).
• Previous diagnostic experience in a main dealership or busy workshop.
• Confident using diagnostic equipment and interpreting technical data.
• Electrical fault-finding experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out advanced vehicle diagnostics and fault-finding.
• Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Use manufacturer diagnostic equipment and systems to identify issues.
• Complete repairs to manufacturer standards.
• Support Vehicle Technicians with technical guidance and complex repairs.
• Carry out EV health checks (EVHC) and identify additional work.
• Accurately complete diagnostic reports, job cards and repair documentation.

Job description

We are recruiting for an experienced Diagnostic Technician, Automotive Diagnostic Technician or Vehicle Diagnostic Technician to join a busy main dealership in Liverpool. Applicants must have strong automotive diagnostic experience, hold a Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, a Full UK Driving Licence and have the right to work in the UK. An MOT Tester Licence is desirable but not essential.

Location: Liverpool

Salary:Up to £39,000 Basic + Uncapped Bonus

OTE: £48,000+

MOT Uplift: Additional £125 per month for qualified MOT Testers

Hours:Monday to Friday, Saturdays on rota

Diagnostic Technician Role

Diagnostic Technician Requirements

• Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (NVQ or equivalent)

• Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and fault-finding procedures
• Confident using diagnostic equipment and interpreting technical data
• Electrical fault-finding experience is highly desirable
• Current MOT Tester Licence is desirable but not essential
