Autotech-Recruit-Limited is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician in Poole, Dorset. You will join a modern workshop, handling diagnostic tasks, routine servicing and repair to high standards while benefiting from ongoing manufacturer training and clear career progression.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent automotive qualification.
• Proven experience as a Diagnostic Technician in a dealership or workshop.
• Strong fault finding across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience with manufacturer diagnostic tools and software.
• Attention to detail and problem solving.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Able to meet productivity targets.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and maintenance to manufacturer standards.
• Diagnose and repair complex faults in mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
• Produce diagnostic reports and health checks.
• Order parts and manage workshop documentation.
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace and comply with safety standards.
• Contribute to general repairs and MOT-related work.
• Communicate diagnostic findings clearly to customers.

About the Role

A leading automotive retailer is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician to join its established workshop team in Poole. Salary: £37,000 - £52,000 OTE + Uncapped Bonus

Hours: 4-Day Working Week (10-Hour Shifts) + Saturday Morning Rota (1 in 4)

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and maintenance in line with manufacturer standards.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Perform comprehensive vehicle health checks and produce accurate diagnostic reports.
• Complete general repairs and MOT-related work to a high standard.
• Service and repair vehicle air conditioning systems.
• Carry out welding and fabrication repairs where required.
• Order and manage parts required to complete repairs efficiently.
• Accurately complete job cards and workshop documentation.
• Communicate diagnostic findings and repair updates when necessary.
• Adhere to workshop processes, health and safety procedures and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and productive working environment.

Requirements

• Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent automotive qualification.
• Previous experience working as a Diagnostic Technician within a dealership or professional workshop environment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
• Experience using manufacturer diagnostic equipment and software.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet productivity targets and deadlines.
• Commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship and customer service.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
