Job summary

Johnsons Cars in Liverpool is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician to join our high-volume workshop. You will diagnose, fault-find, and repair a range of vehicles using modern diagnostic equipment and manufacturer systems, while ensuring work is performed to manufacturer standards.

You will document diagnostic processes thoroughly and perform EVHC checks, identifying additional work where appropriate. A strong focus on accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Strong diagnostic experience in a dealership or busy workshop.
• Confident using diagnostic tools and interpreting data.
• Experience with electrical fault-finding is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out advanced diagnostics and fault-finding across a range of vehicles.
• Use modern diagnostic equipment and manufacturer systems.
• Identify and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues.
• Support the workshop with technical expertise and guidance.
• Complete repairs in line with manufacturer standards.
• Accurately recording diagnostic processes and completed work.
• Carry out vehicle health checks (EVHC) and identify additional work.

The role

What we’re looking for

• Experience with electrical fault-finding (highly desirable)
• MOT Tester licence (desirable, not essential)
• High attention to detail and methodical approach
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Full UK driving licence
