Job description

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in the world of diabetes care? Join the Diabetes & Endocrine Specialist Nursing Service and be part of a passionate team that is transforming lives every day.

We are on the lookout for an experienced Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our dynamic team at the renowned Royal Oldham Hospital Diabetes Centre. Here, you’ll provide exceptional, specialized diabetes care across not just one, but three hospital sites—offering both inpatient and outpatient services.

As a vital member of our team, you'll be empowered to use your proven clinical expertise and leadership skills to drive positive change in patient outcomes. We're seeking a motivated and enthusiastic nurse who thrives in a collaborative environment and is dedicated to delivering the highest standards of care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to further your career in diabetes nursing, supported by a multidisciplinary team that values communication, innovation, and professional growth. Your recent experience and qualifications will be celebrated as you take on this exciting challenge, working autonomously while also benefiting from a robust support network.

If you're ready to take on this rewarding challenge and play a vital role in shaping the future of diabetes care, we want to hear from you! Join us and be a part of a dedicated team that is truly making a positive difference in healthcare.

In this dynamic position, you will assess, plan, and implement tailored treatment plans for patients with diabetes, ensuring that they receive the best possible care. Your expertise will extend beyond direct patient interactions; you will also develop and deliver specialised education and training to fellow healthcare professionals and caregivers. By sharing your knowledge, you will empower others to excel in diabetes management, contributing to a more informed and effective care environment.

You'll have the opportunity to work across a wide spectrum of services, including our antenatal clinic, young persons’ clinic, insulin pump program, and inpatient support services. This diverse exposure will allow you to implement evidence-based, high-quality practices that genuinely make an impact.

We are looking for someone who can work autonomously, manage their workload efficiently, and embrace change as you help drive improvements at the local level. Your ability to adapt and innovate will be key in providing exceptional care and support to both patients and your nursing and medical colleagues alike.

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to over one million people living across Greater Manchester. Our 20,000 colleagues care for people in hospital and in the community, working across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford, to save and improve lives.

As a large NHS trust we are committed to enhancing the health of our local population by delivering consistently high standards of care and working closely with local authorities and key partners. We believe in our power and potential to make a difference and we’re always looking for people who demonstrate our three core values - care, appreciate and inspire – to join our team.

In return, we can offer you a job role with purpose and flexibility. The size and scale of the NCA means we can provide more challenge and opportunities so your career can always be moving in the right direction. By joining us you can also access a competitive benefits package, including a fantastic annual leave allowance, flexible working opportunities and protected hours for health and wellbeing activities, helping you to achieve more personal downtime and a better work-life balance.
