It is an ideal opportunity for a current band 7 nurse to continue their development or for a band 6 nurse with inpatient experience wanting to expand their knowledge in this area. You will help shape the inpatient diabetes experience for patients, families, and staff at the Countess.

We are looking for someone enthusiastic about inpatient diabetes and eager to extend their expertise. The post includes responsibility for leading the service and planning future care for inpatients with diabetes, using GRIFT and JBDS guidelines to advance the service. You will be involved in developing and shaping our service, working within the MDT diabetes team and wider hospital specialties to ensure it is fit for the future. You will need to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, good communication skills, and a friendly, professional attitude.

You will need excellent clinical, organizational, IT, and communication skills.

  5. Assess, advise, and take appropriate action for bleeps, ward referrals, and emergency and routine phone calls from GPs, practice nurses, district nurses, hospital staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  6. Manage the inpatient caseload of patients with complex needs, providing an expert diabetes nursing service, support, advice, and information.
  7. Act as an expert resource, providing clinical advice and support to others involved in diabetes care in secondary care and community settings.
  8. Practice advanced clinical skills, maintaining high professional standards of care and expertise.
