Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Director or Technical Director with a development transport planning background to join our South West Development team in Bristol or Exeter. You will lead client relationships, identify opportunities, and shape market strategy across the Bristol, Exeter, and broader South West region.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, business growth, and engaging with public and private sector clients to expand WSP’s Development offer in the region.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in Transport Planning or related discipline (Chartered status preferred).
• Commercial and strategic capability with a track record of identifying and delivering new business opportunities.
• Proven track record of work-winning and client development in a development transport planning context.
• Strong understanding of development-led transport planning within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Broad experience across public and private sector clients.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the Development team’s market share.
• Support the continued growth of the Development business across the South West and strengthen client relationships.
• Coordinate with Regional Director and local office leadership to set growth targets and plans.
• Engage clients and stakeholders, including local authorities and partners, to build trusted relationships.
• Provide technical advice to clients throughout planning and design processes.
• Collaborate across Development Planning, Infrastructure and Urban Design for coordination and market intelligence.
• Lead and support bids, including reviewing submissions and demonstrating value.
• Support Health & Safety and Corporate Responsibility and ensure SHEQ compliance.
