Job Description:

We are seeking a creative Development and Calibration Engineer to join our Testing and Simulation Team in Manchester. You will work on powertrain system thermo-fluids modelling and performance analysis to develop a competitive product.

  • Calibrate powertrain systems at the test bench and race track as needed
  • Define and oversee test procedures for new powertrain components, software, or hardware
  • Optimize engine calibration and strategies for performance and reliability
  • Provide innovative solutions to engineering challenges
  • Evaluate concepts independently while collaborating with the team
  • Engage with product development processes
  • Create and validate engineering models autonomously
  • Innovate to develop robust, versatile models
  • Work closely with skilled engineers to solve problems and deliver quality products
  • Enhance your engineering skills through challenging tasks
Qualifications:
  • Master’s or PhD in a relevant engineering field, including ICE
  • At least 5 years of experience in high-performance or motorsport powertrain
  • Experience with hybrid powertrains is advantageous
  • Knowledge of TC-DI engine development, especially test bench calibration
  • Experience with automated test equipment
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages
  • Good manual dexterity and practical skills
  • Formula SAE experience preferred
  • Deep understanding of ICE and powertrain testing and metrology
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engine fundamentals
  • Experience with test bench automation, combustion analysis, CAN bus architecture
  • Skills in data post-processing tools (Wintax, ATLAS, etc.)
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is a plus
