Job Description: Development and Calibration Engineer, Stoke-on-Trent

Hyundai Motorsport GmbH, based in Alzenau near Frankfurt/M., Germany, is responsible for Hyundai's global motorsport activities. We are seeking a creative Development and Calibration Engineer to join our Testing and Simulation Team. The role involves powertrain system thermo-fluids modelling and performance analysis to develop a competitive, world-class product.

Responsibilities:
  1. Powertrain calibration at the test bench and race track (if required)
  2. Defining test procedures for new powertrain items, software, or hardware, and overseeing their execution
  3. Optimizing engine calibration and strategies for maximum performance and reliability
  4. Providing innovative solutions to engineering challenges
  5. Concept evaluation and analysis within a team environment
  6. Interacting with the development of end products
  7. Creating and validating engineering solutions autonomously
  8. Developing robust and versatile models for innovation
  9. Collaborating with skilled engineers to solve problems and deliver quality products
  10. Enhancing engineering skills through challenging tasks
Qualifications:
  • Master's or PhD in relevant engineering field involving ICE
  • Minimum 5 years experience in high-performance or motorsport powertrain
  • Experience with hybrid powertrains is beneficial
  • Knowledge of TC-DI engine development, powertrain test bench calibration
  • Experience with automated test equipment
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages
  • Strong manual dexterity and practical skills
  • Formula SAE experience preferred
  • Deep knowledge of ICE/powertrain testing and metrology
  • Understanding of internal combustion engine and powertrain fundamentals
  • Experience with test bench automation, combustion analysis, CAN bus architecture
  • Proficiency with data post-processing tools (e.g., Wintax, ATLAS)
  • Proficiency in English and German (or willingness to learn) is a plus
