Job description

As a Developer within the Design, Develop and Transition team, you will use your Microsoft Power Platform development skills to design, build and enhance digital services that support council staff and residents. Working collaboratively with colleagues across technology and council services, you will turn user needs into secure, reliable and well-tested solutions that make a practical difference.

  • It will be your responsibility to design, build, test and improve apps, integrations, processes and automations that meet user needs, while working on development tasks within the broader Microsoft ecosystem.
  • You will write clean, secure and well-tested code, following agreed standards and patterns, helping the team improve its development practices.
  • Using your expertise, you will work from user stories and requirements, challenge assumptions or gaps, and collaborate with product owners, solution architects, testers and other specialists to identify effective technical approaches.
  • It will be key for you to explain technical options clearly, build effective relationships with technical and non-technical colleagues, and take part in peer reviews of your own work and the work of others.
  • To support the successful delivery and ongoing operation of services, you will produce clear technical documentation, assist with testing and deployments and investigate and resolve issues as they arise.
  • It is essential you hold a degree in a computer-related field, or have equivalent technical knowledge or relevant practical experience. You may also hold, or be working towards, a relevant professional or technical qualification.
  • You will have practical experience in software development, alongside strong specialist knowledge in Microsoft Power Platform. You might have experience of Azure platform services, C#, or modern web development.
  • We are looking for someone who can manage their workload effectively, prioritising competing demands and identifying issues at an early stage, while working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary agile team.
  • You must be able to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, explaining complex information simply and contributing positively to shared team outcomes.
  • This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Badminton Road and working from home.

Interviews will be held week commencing 28th September .
