Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead to oversee safeguarding provision in an Oxford school. You will take ownership of safeguarding policies, advise colleagues and work with senior leaders to ensure pupil safety and well-being.

The role involves coordinating referrals, risk assessments and records, promoting best practice, and supporting staff development while liaising with families, social care, police and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience safeguarding children and young people.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures.
• Ability to manage complex cases and multi‑agency work.

Responsibilities

• Lead safeguarding arrangements across the school.
• Coordinate safeguarding referrals with social care and police.
• Review pupil risk assessments with clinicians.
• Maintain safeguarding records and documentation.
• Provide leadership to the safeguarding team.
• Ensure policies meet statutory requirements.
• Coordinate support with external agencies.
