Job summary

Orchard Hill College in Uxbridge is seeking a Designated Safeguarding Lead to oversee safeguarding across a college region. You will provide guidance to students and staff, work with families, liaise with Local Authority and external agencies, and maintain accurate safeguarding records.

Key requirements include safeguarding and child protection training, and additional qualifications in SEND, mental health, or family intervention.

Qualifications

• Training in safeguarding and child protection
• Additional qualifications in SEND, mental health, or family intervention
• Experience working with children and families, preferably within an educational or social care setting

Responsibilities

• Develop strong, trusting relationships with students, parents, and carers, ensuring they feel supported.
• Facilitate access to external services, such as health professionals, social workers, and local community support.
• Regularly review student attendance and implement measures to improve attendance, including home visits.
• Promote a positive, inclusive college culture that values family engagement and well-being.
• Oversee complex safeguarding cases and coordinate with internal and external teams and agencies.
