Job summary

SP Energy Networks in Wales seeks a Project Engineer (Design) to design and value up to 11kV networks, shaping future electricity infrastructure. Based in Wrexham or Caernarfon, you will manage connections, assess load and generation, and develop reinforcements for safer, more reliable networks supporting renewable growth.

You will coordinate planning with authorities and third parties, ensuring designs meet licence requirements and deliver value while controlling costs.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a network design role.
• Knowledge of design standards up to 11kV.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and incentives.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Manage regulatory aspects of connection requests and quotations.
• Deliver designs within defined scope, volumes and unit costs.
• Coordinate planning, design and ownership activities to improve safety.
• Manage third-party connection points and design approvals.
• Develop designs in line with unit costs and approvals, enabling delivery.
• Contribute to district medium and long-term network planning.
