Job summary

Spencer Ogden is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join the in-house design team in the UK. You will deliver safe, efficient electrical infrastructure across energy and grid connection projects, from concept to construction, supporting the transition to renewable energy.

Key responsibilities include HV substation design (11kV–132kV), protection & control, earthing, and detailed design packages.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of power engineering and HV systems.
• Proven experience in electrical design in contracting, utilities, or energy sectors.

Responsibilities

• Design HV substations and electrical infrastructure (11kV–132kV).
• Protection & Control design: SLDs, schematics, and relay configurations.
• HV cable design with ampacity calculations and verification.
• Earthing design and use of CDEGS.
• Prepare detailed design packages and calculations.
• Collaborate with CAD and panel teams for outputs.
• Site surveys, inspections, and FAT.
• Engage with clients and DNO/TNO representatives to deliver on time.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations.
