Job summary

ScottishPower is seeking a Project Engineer (Design) to shape the district distribution network in Wales. You will design electrical infrastructure up to 11kV, manage connection requests, and deliver multi‑million pound projects with safety and regulatory compliance at the forefront.

You will collaborate with Local Authorities and Independent Network Operators, drive continuous improvement, and align designs with renewable energy targets while ensuring value and quality throughout the project

Qualifications

• Engineering or professional qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a network design role.
• Thorough knowledge of design standards up to 11kV.
• Familiarity with the regulatory environment and incentive mechanisms.
• Experience with network evaluation modelling tools.

You'll be at the forefront of planning and designing electrical infrastructure up to 11kV, ensuring network security and integrity while delivering projects typically valued at circa £5m. This role offers the opportunity to apply innovative engineering solutions that balance customer needs with efficient network design, all while enabling Scotland's Net Zero targets. You'll manage connection requests, undertake system evaluation to establish load and generation connections, and develop network reinforcement solutions that improve the safety and longevity of our electrical infrastructure.
