Job summary

We Are Footprint is recruiting a Design Manager to oversee design delivery for projects valued £8m–£12m. You will lead the design process from pre-construction through to completion, coordinating architects, engineers and subcontractors to ensure buildable, compliant solutions.

The role requires strong knowledge of building regulations, technical drawings, and the ability to manage multiple design packages while maintaining project timelines and budget constraints.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Design Manager within the construction industry.
• Experience delivering projects of similar value and scale (£8m–£12m).
• Background in new-build construction (care homes, commercial or industrial).
• Strong understanding of the design process, technical drawings and building regulations.
• Confident in managing consultants and coordinating multiple design packages.
• Good communication and organisational skills to keep projects moving.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design process from pre-construction through completion.
• Coordinate architects, consultants, engineers and subcontractors.
• Review drawings and specifications for practicality, compliance and buildability.
• Manage design programmes and ensure information is issued on time.
• Identify and resolve design issues before they affect progress on site.
• Work with Project Manager and site team for smooth delivery.
• Review design changes and assess impact on cost, programme and quality.
• Ensure designs meet building regulations and health and safety requirements.
