Job summary

Mk Consult is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design process from feasibility to handover on residential construction projects. You will work closely with clients, consultants and internal teams to ensure designs are coordinated, buildable and compliant with regulations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor, developer or design and build environment.
• Strong understanding of the construction process from pre-construction through to project delivery.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary consultant teams.
• Knowledge of RIBA Plan of Work and design management principles.
• Excellent understanding of Building Regulations and CDM requirements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to identify and manage risk.
• Experience using document management platforms such as Asite, Viewpoint or similar.

Responsibilities

Design Manager

My client is a privately owned construction and development business delivering high-quality residential projects across the North West.

With a strong pipeline of framework, negotiated and two-stage opportunities, we are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join our growing team. This is a key role within the business, ensuring projects are expertly coordinated from concept through to completion, while maintaining our commitment to quality, collaboration, innovation and client satisfaction.

The Role

As Design Manager, you will take ownership of the design process from the earliest feasibility and pre-construction stages through to project completion. Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal delivery teams, you will ensure designs are coordinated, commercially viable, buildable and fully compliant.

You will play a leading role in developing technical solutions, identifying and mitigating design risk, driving value engineering opportunities and ensuring projects progress efficiently through each design gateway.

This role would suit an ambitious Design Manager with a background in construction, architecture or engineering who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and influencing projects from inception to handover.
