Job summary

We Are Footprint is seeking an experienced Design Manager to support delivery of projects valued between £8m and £12m. The role involves leading the design process from pre-construction through to completion, coordinating architects, consultants and engineers, and ensuring buildable, compliant designs that meet deadlines.

You will review drawings, manage design programmes and resolve issues before they affect site progress, working closely with the Project Manager and site team.

We’re recruiting for an established construction and development business looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of projects valued between £8m and £12m.

The company delivers a range of developments, including care homes, commercial and industrial buildings, with a focus on quality, buildability and successful project delivery.

The Role

• Manage the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
• Coordinate architects, consultants, engineers and subcontractors.
• Review drawings and specifications to ensure designs are practical, compliant and buildable.
• Manage design programmes and ensure information is issued in line with project deadlines.
• Identify and resolve design issues before they affect progress on site.
• Work closely with the Project Manager and site team to ensure a smooth delivery.
• Review design changes and assess their impact on cost, programme and quality.
• Ensure designs meet relevant building regulations and health and safety requirements.

About You

• Previous experience as a Design Manager within the construction industry.
• Experience working on projects of a similar value and scale.
• Background in new-build construction, ideally care homes, commercial or industrial developments.
• Strong understanding of the design process, technical drawings and building regulations.
• Confident managing consultants and coordinating multiple design packages.
• Good communication and organisational skills, with the ability to keep projects moving.
