Design Manager Cambridge

Location: Cambridge, UK
Employment Type: Full-time

I am looking to speak with experienced Design Manager to join a growing team in Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of design coordination across a variety of impactful projects, including those within the Department for Education (DfE) sector.

While DfE project experience is highly desirable, it is not essential. I am still looking for strong design managers with a background in construction, architecture, engineering, or similar disciplines who are eager to diversify their project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the design process through pre-construction and delivery phases
  • Coordinate internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure design information is delivered on time and to the required standard
  • Oversee design reviews, risk management, and technical compliance
  • Work closely with the project team to ensure buildability, cost efficiency, and programme alignment
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies as required
  • Support value engineering and design optimisation strategies
About You
  • Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction or built environment sector
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple design packages and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of relevant building regulations and design processes
  • DfE experience is advantageous but not mandatory
  • You must be based in the Cambridge area or within a commutable distance to be considered
