Job summary

QTS Data Centers in the United Kingdom is seeking a Design Manager, Data Centre Development to drive design execution across campus or project workstreams. You will coordinate with stakeholders and external design partners to deliver on time, on budget, and to quality standards.

The role requires strong experience in commercial construction and design management, travel up to 25% and proficiency with design tools and procurement processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Five+ years of professional experience in commercial construction, design management, development, engineering, or project delivery.
• Experience coordinating design or construction activities from conceptual development through procurement and closeout.
• Knowledge of Lump Sum, CM at Risk, and Design Build delivery methods.
• Experience coordinating with external consultants, contractors, designers, engineers, vendors and internal ops stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office for updates and Excel for budgets/schedules.
• Experience with design/project tools such as Bluebeam, Revit, BIM 360, ACC.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Support design management for assigned campus/project streams, maintaining budgets and schedules.
• Prepare clear project design updates and escalation summaries for leadership.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, design teams, construction teams, and operations.
• Coordinate design input for entitlement, permitting, and site development.
• Support phased development design plans to meet time, budget, and quality goals.
• Draft/review scopes for design, construction, and commissioning.
• Support procurement and cost-estimate activities for design/construct/commissioning.
• Coordinate equipment procurement delivery tracking and stakeholder comms.
• Ensure submittals, design decisions, and reviews are documented.
• Maintain project design schedules and coordinate external design partners.
• Review change order requests and prepare recommendations for senior review.
• Support product deployment planning and communicate project impacts.
• Collaborate with Sales Eng and Product teams for custom deal solutioning within schedule/budget.
• Attend OAC and stakeholder meetings as design/project rep.
• Assist due diligence for potential new sites and improve design processes.
