Job summary

Choice Teachers is seeking a Design and Technology Technician for a Secondary School in Stockport. The role supports the Technology Department, helping with practical tasks and safety in a modern school environment.

The successful candidate will have DBS clearance (or be willing to apply), two references, and the right to work in the UK. Hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:30, on a long-term basis with potential to go permanent.

Qualifications

  • DBS check (update service) or willingness to apply for one.
  • Two professional references required.
  • Right to work in the UK; relevant safeguarding compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up, and test tools, equipment and materials for classes (wood, metal, plastics, textiles).
  • Clear away, clean, and store equipment safely after lessons.
  • Stock checking and resource management.
  • Health and safety awareness in the workshop and classroom.
  • Support the class teacher and colleagues within the Technology Department.

Job description

Choice Teachers are seeking a Design and Technology Technician to join a Secondary School in Stockport.

The school has very modern facilities and is rated GOOD by Ofsted. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is keen to work specifically within a creative Technology Department, supporting colleagues whilst they develop the creative minds of the future!

If you are a Design & Technology Technician, or have similar experience with transferrable skills, this role would be perfect for you.

The start date for the role will be from Monday 5th October on a long-term basis, with the opportunity to become permanent. The hours will be Monday to Friday, 08:30-15:30.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, set up, and test tools, equipment, and raw materials (such as wood, metal, plastics, and textiles) before classes
  • Clear away, clean, and store equipment and materials safely after lessons
  • Stock Checking
  • Health and safety awareness
  • Responsible for the resources
  • Supporting the Teacher
Requirements
  • DBS Certificate on the update service (or willing to apply for one)
  • Two professional references
  • Right to work in the UK
