Spire Harpenden Hospital is seeking a Deputy Theatre Manager to lead the theatre department, ensuring safe, high-quality perioperative care and efficient operations. You will support the Theatre Manager, drive performance, and foster strong consultant relations in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide visible clinical and managerial leadership across the Theatre department.

• Oversee stock management and liaise with Finance on resources.
• Lead audits and improvement action plans for the department.
• Ensure patient information handling complies with Data Protection and Spire policies.

Spire Harpenden Hospital offers a modern, well‑equipped clinical environment designed to support high‑quality patient care. The hospital features 64 private en‑suite patient rooms, providing a comfortable and private setting for recovery, alongside five operating theatres, including specialist laminar flow theatres for orthopaedic procedures.

There are extensive outpatient and consulting facilities, supported by advanced on‑site diagnostics including MRI, CT, ultrasound, and X‑ray, ensuring efficient patient pathways from consultation through to treatment. The hospital also benefits from an on‑site pharmacy and physiotherapy services, enabling a fully integrated approach to care.

Additional facilities include a dedicated outpatient department, patient café/restaurant, free parking, and Wi‑Fi, creating a convenient and welcoming environment for both patients and staff.

As Deputy Theatre Manager, you’ll play a key role in leading clinical and operational performance within the department. You will support the Theatre Manager in delivering safe, effective, high‑quality theatre services while maximising utilisation, maintaining clinical standards and fostering strong relationships with Consultants and multidisciplinary teams.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where no two days are the same — perfect for an experienced theatre practitioner who enjoys both operational challenges and clinical leadership.

Essential Skills:

• Experience as a Clinical Practitioner NMC or HCPC registered in a theatre setting
• Evidence of substantial post registration continual professional development in management and other clinically related and relevant subjects
• Working within a performance driven culture, while maintaining safe standards
• Meeting financial and budgetary targets
• Management, motivation and development of the clinical team
