Job summary

Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate, Bettys Café Tearooms, Harrogate, are looking for a Deputy Retail Manager on a fixed-term 9-month maternity cover starting January 2027. This full-time role involves varied shifts across opening hours and requires working at least one weekend day.

You will bring experience in retail leadership, managing and motivating a team, knowledge of food safety and health & safety, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing and motivating a retail team.
• Knowledge of food safety and health and safety procedures.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with others as part of a strong team.
• Desire to learn about our products and share knowledge with customers.
• Ideally experience working to KPIs such as labour budgets.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily retail operations and ensure high standards of customer service.
• Lead, motivate and develop the store team to meet targets.
• Supervise shifts, ensure compliance with food safety and H&S policies.
• Support KPI achievement, including labour budgeting and scheduling.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen in our Retail team and we are looking for a Deputy Retail Manager to join us at Bettys Café Tearooms in Harrogate. This is a fixed term contract for 9 months covering a maternity leave, starting in January 2027.

Working pattern

• This is a Full Time role working a minimum of insert 37.5 over 5 days.
• We have a variety of shift patterns with start and finish times staggered throughout the day which is dependent on the opening hours of the branch.
• These shifts may include early mornings or evening shifts.
• You will be required to work at least one day at the weekend every week.

About You

You’ll have a background of working in and organising a Retail department. You’ll have experience in managing and motivating a team. You will have knowledge of food safety and health and safety procedures. You will have good communication skills and the ability to work well with others as we rely on our strong team ethic to deliver the highest levels of quality and customer service. You will have the desire to learn all about our products and be able to confidently share your knowledge and enthusiasm with our customers. Ideally you will have previous experience of working to KPI’s such as labour budgets.
