Job summary

Ashdown Care in Gateshead is seeking caring, motivated Support Workers to join our team supporting people with learning disabilities. You will help individuals live full, meaningful lives, develop independence, and achieve personal goals in a person-centred environment.

We offer a supportive team, training, progression opportunities, and a proactive approach to care. The role involves personal care, daily living tasks, and meaningful activities, with a 30-hour+ week schedule and a 2-week rolling

  • Proactive in planning activities and opportunities.

Job description

Hours: 30 hours per week + 1–2 sleep-ins
Rota: 2-week rolling rota
Location: Gateshead (In person)

About the Role

We are looking for caring, motivated Support Workers to join our established team supporting people with learning disabilities.This is a rewarding role where you will support people to live full, meaningful lives, develop independence, and achieve personal goals. Every day is different, and you will play a key role in helping the people we support feel safe, valued, and empowered.


You will be part of a highly supportive team with approachable, experienced managers who are committed to your wellbeing, development, and career progression.


Who You Will Support

You will be supporting:



  • 6 adults with learning disabilities

  • People who require personal care and emotional support

  • Individuals who may display occasional behaviours of distress

  • People who need support with daily living skills and developing independence


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide person-centred support in line with individual support plans

  • Support with personal care, daily living tasks, and community activities

  • Promote independence, choice, and dignity

  • Use Positive Behaviour Support approaches

  • Encourage skill development and meaningful activities

  • Work as part of a team to maintain safe, high-quality support


About You (Ideal Candidate)

We are looking for someone who is:
