Job summary

Home Bargains is seeking a Deputy Manager to lead on the shop floor, support the team, and ensure the store runs smoothly with fast, friendly service. You’ll motivate colleagues, handle customer questions, and jump in during busy moments to keep standards high.

You’ll drive daily priorities, recruit and train new starters, and help shape the next generation of Home Bargains leaders in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising small to medium-sized teams in fast-paced retail or hospitality environments.
• Proven ability to lead teams to achieve high weekly sales targets.
• Confidence in supporting recruitment, training and day-to-day team development.
• Strong understanding of store priorities, standards and customer service expectations.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example on the shop floor, motivate the team and provide support where needed.
• Coach and develop team members to deliver great service and maintain high standards.
• Manage daily tasks and adapt quickly to changing priorities to keep the store running smoothly.
• Contribute to training and succession planning to develop Home Bargains leaders of the future.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding and ongoing team development.

• Lead by example, lift the team: As a hands-on leader, you'll set the tone on the shop floor, motivating your team, jumping in where needed, and making sure everyone feels supported. Your energy and guidance help create a workplace where people enjoy coming to work and customers love to shop.
• Put people first, every time: Whether you're helping a colleague grow in confidence or making sure a customer leaves with a smile, your leadership will shape the store's atmosphere. You'll coach your team through busy days, guide them to deliver great service, and keep standards high across the board.
• Keep the store thriving: From managing daily tasks to reacting quickly when things change, you'll stay focused and lead with purpose. Whether it's helping your team stay on top of priorities or jumping on the shop floor to lend a hand, you'll make sure the store runs smoothly and feels great to shop in.
• Grow confident, capable leaders: You won't just lead the team, you'll help shape it. From giving feedback and sharing knowledge to supporting training and spotting potential, you'll play a big part in developing the next generation of Home Bargains leaders.

Package Salary & Hours

• £34,551 FTE
• 44 hours per week
