Job summary

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) seeks a Deputy Management Accountant to join the Management Accounting team within Strategic Finance. You will lead month-end and year-end activities, delivering timely, accurate financial information and supporting budgetary oversight across the £500m program.

You'll work with Finance Business Partners and stakeholders to explain variances, produce monthly reports, and maintain strong financial controls across systems and processes in a dynamic

Qualifications

• Experience with month-end and year-end activities.
• Experience in finance within IT or estates environments.
• Ability to produce monthly finance reports and explain variances.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for month end and year end processes and reporting, ensuring timetables are met.
• Undertake month end activities: journals, accruals, prepayments, forecasts, variances explanations.
• Ensure integrity of transactions on financial systems with strong controls.
• Analyze financial and non-financial data to identify trends in line with the MCA Business Plan.
• Support Finance Business Partners with explanations for budget changes; update senior managers.
• Produce high-quality monthly finance reports and provide insights to senior managers.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the Agency.
