Job summary

DPD Maidstone is seeking an experienced Shift Manager to strengthen depot operations management. You will lead with our Owner Drivers and Employed Drivers, keeping them engaged, well managed and motivated to ensure outstanding service is delivered.

In this role you will collaborate closely with drivers, set KPIs, and ensure routes are properly configured and resources are available for ad-hoc collections. A fast-paced environment with opportunities to progress awaits.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced operation with direct people management responsibility.
• Ability to inspire, motivate and manage a high-performing team.
• Decisive decision-making, problem solving and time management skills.
• Resilience, self-motivation and flexibility in a busy depot.
• Excellent computer skills, including Google Chrome applications.
• Capability to produce comprehensive reports and analyze data.
• Vigilance to uncover and act on unscrupulous activity.

Responsibilities

• Ensure depot targets for Core Routes are achieved.
• Meet Stops Per Route (SPR) targets and optimise delivery efficiency.
• Set up and balance all delivery & collection routes.
• Ensure drivers scan and load vans safely and on time.
• Maintain clear, proactive communication with drivers.
• Allocate resources for ad-hoc collections via drivers or couriers.
• Ensure documentation and systems meet company and legal requirements.
• Develop KPIs for service, cost, productivity, transport and health and safety.
• Achieve 'Depot Clear' in line with targets.
