Engineering Delivery Manager – Subsea & Sonar Systems

Overview:

We are seeking a number of experienced Engineering Delivery Managers to lead and coordinate the delivery of a series of engineering work packages within the underwater defence sector. The focus of the engagement is on subsea and sonar systems, where technical leadership and structured programme delivery will be critical to success.

You will be working under a Statement of Work, the individuals will be responsible for driving delivery across the full engineering lifecycle, ensuring outcomes are aligned with project objectives, engineering quality standards, and stakeholder expectations. This is a key technical leadership role within a fast-paced, high-assurance environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering work packages focused on sonar arrays and subsea sensing systems.
• Provide technical direction across multi-disciplinary teams including systems, hardware, software, and integration engineers.
• Ensure all engineering outputs meet defined requirements, quality standards, and delivery milestones.
• Maintain oversight of design coherence, system integration, and verification activities across the delivery lifecycle.
• Act as the key technical point of contact, liaising with internal stakeholders, partners, and project governance functions.
• Ensure engineering risks are identified, tracked, and mitigated through proactive planning and coordination.
• Deliver regular status updates, participate in reviews, and maintain engineering documentation in line with configuration control and project standards.
• Ensure adherence to relevant defence and safety standards (e.g. Def Stan 00-55, 00-56) throughout.

Required Experience:

• Degree-qualified in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Acoustics, or similar).
• Strong background in sonar, underwater acoustics, or subsea sensor systems, with specific expertise in sonar array technology.
• Demonstrable experience managing technical delivery across complex, multi-disciplinary defence programmes.
• Comfortable with systems engineering practices, gated review models, and formal verification and validation processes.
• Confident leading technical teams and delivering engineering outcomes within schedule, scope, and quality targets.
• Familiarity with tools such as DOORS, Matlab, and Enterprise Architect is advantageous.
• Must hold active SC clearance at the time of engagement.
